The most classic of all panamas, the Folder Panama (often referred to as Colonial) has a distinct crease in the centre, allowing it to roll with maximum ease and retain its shape, so is ideal for frequent travel.

This is a genuine panama hat, which come in a bleached straw with a black ribbon trim. This summer hat has been handwoven in Ecuador and finished to the highest standard in England.

Care & Travel Tips for Your Panama Hat

Rolling for Travel

  • Turn down the brim and hold the crown left to right.

  • Fold along the centre ridge and roll loosely into a cone shape.

  • Use a band or scarf to keep it in place. Do not store rolled permanently.

Cleaning

  • Dust with a dry cloth first.

  • For marks, gently wipe with a damp cloth or baby wipe.

  • Avoid rubbing hard; no soap or cleaning agents.

Reshaping

  • Steam gently and reshape by hand.

  • Dry on low heat with a hairdryer.

  • For the brim, use a steam iron on low with a damp cloth—avoid direct contact with straw.
